Description

Is it Time for a Graduated Income Tax?

Joshua Mantell from the Bell Policy Center and House Representative Lorena Garcia will join us to discuss ongoing efforts to enact a graduated income tax in Colorado. They will talk about how it will work, challenges to adopt it and how you can get involved. Joshua joined the Bell in 2018 as the Rapid Response Policy Analyst and works with the research team, as well as assists with communications and outreach by writing and developing content. Prior to working at the Bell, Josh was at the Wilderness Society in both Washington D.C. and Denver, where he worked on public lands, energy, and climate change policy. House Representative Lorena Garcia represents HD 35 since her appointment in 2023. She is a long-time community activist and non-profit leader.

Community Action Activities:

We’ll be assembling ICE Awareness Kits to support communities where ICE activity has been reported. Each kit includes a whistle to alert others, Know Your Rights cards, and safety guidelines—all packed in clear, ready-to-distribute bags. These will go directly to volunteers across Colorado. Want to help even more? Donations toward supplies are welcome at the meeting.

In addition, we are hosting our second food drive this year to help families experiencing higher food insecurity due to the federal administration's budget cuts and refusal to fund SNAP and WIC during the shut down. Please bring a contribution to share. High need items are listed below:
